Ford has been named the UK's most reliable van manufacturer by Fleet News for the second year in a row.

Stephen Briers, editor of Fleet News, said: "Van reliability is one of the most important considerations for fleet buyers, especially as companies always aim to minimise vehicle downtime and optimise efficiency."

He added the outstanding reliability of models like the Transit and the ongoing popularity of this range ensures the company continues to go from strength to strength in the fleet market.

The honour comes as Ford carries out an overhaul of its commercial vehicle range, with the Transit Custom updated in 2012, the Transit Connect renewed this year and the Transit Courier to be refit by early 2014.

Fleet News' award is based on responses to the publication's annual reliability survey, which covers actual breakdown and warranty claims by respondents, as well as representing a combined fleet size of more than 170,000 light commercial vehicles.
