The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has highlighted the ongoing danger to UK motorists posed by unscrupulous individuals setting up crash for cash scams across the country.
As part of the organisation's Drive & Survive initiative, UK drivers have been warned to always keep their wits about them, ensuring they are aware of any hazards that could pose a danger to their vehicle or other road users.
IAM head of training Simon Elstow said: "Crash for cash scams are costing the insurance industry millions of pounds. Collisions are stressful and emotionally draining but it's important to be prepared in case you are involved in one."
Earlier this month, the IAM responded to the publication of the latest road casualty statistics for the first quarter of 2012 in the UK.
IAM chief executive Simon Best noted at the time that the rise in injuries and fatalities recorded should serve as a warning and will hopefully not be the start of an ongoing trend of increases.
