Vehicle manufacturer Kia has announced the recall of 25,192 vehicles sold in the UK due to an issue with faulty brake lights.

The company has stated a number of models built between 2006 and 2011 have been found to contain a faulty brake light switch, which can lead to rear brake lights failing to illuminate or being left on after the brake pedal has been released.

Vehicles affected in the UK include the Carens, Sedona, Sorento and Sportage models.

The issue has been highlighted as carbonisation of the switch controlling brake lighting. Fortunately, it is a fault that can be easily remedied.

Owners of these cars are therefore being urged to contact their local Kia dealer in order to bring in their vehicle for repairs.

Brake lights are one of the most important safety features for any vehicle. It is therefore an extremely serious issue if these items are faulty and it is something the manufacturer will be keen to remedy swiftly.
