The Kia Rio 1.1 CRDi EcoDynamics model has picked up an award for its outstanding environmental credentials at the Business Car Manager Best Business Car 2012 Awards.

Its class-leading green attributes helped the Rio to stand out from the crowd in what was a highly competitive category, to be named the publication's best sub-100 g/km business car for 2012.

Ralph Morton, editor of Business Car Manager, said: "Any Kia Rio is a good car – but the EcoDynamics version is a champion. It returns a staggering 88 mpg and emits just 85 g/km of CO2."

He added that this sustainable vehicle also offers plenty of punch for owners, getting the maximum performance out of its powerful 1.1-litre three-cylinder diesel engine.

The company also recently picked up two design awards at the prestigious red dot design competition for its Rio and Picanto models.

Each were honoured in the internationally-renowned product design category, fending off competition from more than 4,500 other products.
