Merseyside-based haulier Abbey Logistics has received a £5.5 million funding deal from HSBC to give its fleet options a green overhaul.
The company presently operates in excess of 200 trucks and 260 tankers, with the funds going towards making these vehicles fully compliant with stringent new carbon emission regulations, the Liverpool Daily Post reports.
Specifically, the funds will go towards ensuring all of the firm's vehicles meet green guidelines, such as those set out in London's Low Emission Zone.
Liverpool commercial director at HSBC Rikki Griffiths told the news provider: "With the government's ambitious green targets setting the agenda for many businesses in the UK, Abbey is a great example of a company tackling its objectives head on."
Managing director of Abbey Steve Granite added the funding will go a long way towards helping the company to meet its ambitious growth strategy targets over the coming years.
Founded in 2004, Abbey provides transport solutions for a wide range of industries, with the firm having a particular emphasis on loads originating within the East Anglia region.
