GEM Motoring Assist has published a number of quirky facts to entertain and inform drivers across the UK.
According to the organisation, the first ever speeding ticket was for the princely sum of one shilling and was handed to Walter Arnold of East Peckham in January 1896. He was travelling at eight mph in a two mph zone.
The perfect beat for a safe driving song is believed to be 70 beats per minute, as this mimics the heart's natural rhythm. Examples of tunes with this timing include Coldplay's The Scientist and Come Away With Me by Norah Jones.
Meanwhile, the organisation states that the cost of not gritting the country's roads in the winter could be as high as £2 billion to the economy.
Earlier this month, GEM also offered some summer driving tips to motorists, including giving caravans a thorough once over before taking them out on the roads if they have been left idle during the colder months.
