The Highways Agency (HA) has announced its new business plan for the upcoming year, which could be positive news for fleet managers keen to see improvement in the UK's roads infrastructure.
Graham Dalton, chief executive of the organisation, said: "The coming year is our first under reduced budgets set in the 2010 spending review. We have been preparing and have plans and contracts in place that mean we are ready."
As part of HA's plans, the agency will embark on numerous road improvement projects, including congestion-busting measures on the A14 carriageway.
In addition, four major road schemes are to receive final approval in the coming 12 months – widening of the A453, completion of the M6 and M1 managed motorway schemes (MMS) and the introduction of a dual carriageway on the A11.
The agency announced earlier this month that preparatory work has already gotten underway on the M6 MMS, with the initiative designed to ease traffic flows between junctions 6 and 8 of the carriageway.
