Japanese tyre manufacturer Falken has announced the launch of a new off-road tyre, which it claims is perfect for all-terrain vehicles.

Available for a diverse range of models by different manufacturers, the new Wildpeak WP/AT01 has been developed to meet the stringent requirements of off-road and utility vehicles and is the company's first offering in the European market.

"The Wildpeak is designed to appeal to off-road vehicle owners requiring a single tyre to provide a safe, refined ride on the road yet still provide performance in a range of off road conditions," commented Yukio Yoshida, Falken's European corporate planning director.

He added that the company achieved record sales last year as a result of its aggressive marketing plan for Europe.

Last month, Continental Tyres received top honours in this year's evo performance tyre test.

The company's ContiSportContact3 tyre was found to be best, with reviewers stating that traction remained superb even in wet and difficult weather.
