Nissan has unveiled its new X-Trail model to the expectant crowds at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show.

Nissan president and chief executive officer Carlos Ghosn commented: "This new X-Trail builds on the reputation earned over three product generations for quality and reliability enhanced by class-leading levels of value, innovation, dynamic performance and premium style."

A number of new innovations have been added to the latest X-Trail, including the manufacturer's Nissan Safety Shield technology and the new NissanConnect navigation and infotainment system.

Making its global debut at the motor show, the model forms part of the Nissan Power 88 mid-term plan – the company's most intensive product offering in its 80-year history.

Available on the road from £26,215, the X-Trail currently offers three variants – the Acenta, n-tec+ and Tekna.

It was accompanied in Frankfurt by the launch of the Nissan Nismo Concept Watch – a smartwatch providing real-time data updates through connectivity with onboard computers on the latest Nismo.
