Vehicle manufacturer Nissan has announced its European sales figures for July, highlighting an increase in regional market share for the second successive month.

According to the company's data, 53,323 units were sold during July 2012 – 3.8 per cent lower than in the corresponding month of 2011.

However, the firm improved its market share in the region to 3.9 per cent during July, helped predominantly by significant sales growth in eastern Europe (up by 15.3 per cent on the previous year).

Nissan vice president for sales operations in Europe Guillaume Cartier said: "Nissan enjoyed another robust month in July in Europe, with the popularity of our models counteracting the generally difficult market conditions in some countries."

Last month, the firm announced the launch of its new NV400 chassis cab range of light commercial vehicles.

In total, the range will offer 13 different versions for buyers, including minibus, crew van, dropside and tipper configurations.
