The plague of potholes that have come to typify winter in the UK have returned across much of the country following the recent snap of freezing weather, it has been revealed.
As a result, vehicle safety organisation TyreSafe has highlighted the damage these hazards can cause to cars if drivers are not extra vigilant when out and about at present.
Stuart Jackson, chairman of TyreSafe, noted drivers who do not or who are unable to avoid these hazards can see considerable damage to their vehicle.
He said: "Visible damage such as buckled wheels or lumps in the tyre are the most obvious signs of a problem which must be addressed by a qualified professional. However, hidden problems such as cracked alloys can be just as dangerous."
The news follows recent comments from Warranty Direct managing director Duncan McClure Fisher, who argued that more than 10,000 new potholes have been reported so far this winter, with the issue fast becoming an epidemic that the government must react to.
