Popular fleet van the Renault Kangoo has scooped an accolade at the VansA2Z Awards. The Z.E. model has been named Eco Van of the Year at the prestigious event in London.
The Kangoo Z.E. beat off competition from the Citroen Berlingo Electrique and the Mercedes-Benz Vito E-CELL to win the title, with editor of VansA2Z Neil McIntee stating that the model is the only vehicle of its kind that is a viable option for ordinary businesses looking to reduce their CO2 output.
Product manager of the electric vehicle programme at Renault UK Ben Fletcher said: "Awareness of the benefits associated with electric vans, from a cost, driver and environmental perspective, is growing on a daily basis, boosted recently by the new government-supported Go Ultra Low campaign."
The Kangoo Z.E. was the world's first electric light commercial vehicle to be produced by an auto manufacturer. It is eligible for the government's Plug-in Van Grant, which entitles buyers to a 25 per cent discount on the total cost of an electric or hybrid van purchase up to a maximum of £8,000.
