The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) is embarking on a drive to 'join up the dots' of UK road safety policy and will be publishing new guidance on the matter in 2014.

Duncan Vernon, road safety manager at RoSPA, said: "There are many common aims between road safety and wider public health where integrated or co-ordinated efforts between these two groups of professionals can have a range of benefits to both areas."

As such, the body is aiming to create new guidance for local authorities that will draw on the combined experiences of public health and road safety professionals across the country.

RoSPA is currently in the process of liaising with organisations up and down the UK that have carried out specific road safety campaigns, with the subsequent publication set to provide guidance on best practice for reducing accident rates and improving awareness among motorists and firms.
