Volvo has announced the launch of a new partnership with safety experts Fleet21 as part of its efforts to reduce accident rates for those driving its vehicles.
Simon Turner, managing director of Fleet21, commented: "Modern vehicle safety features can make a massive contribution to road safety and Volvo has always been a leader in this field so we … are incredibly excited to be working with them."
The collaboration will see the pair working on creating a more safety-driven motorist culture, with Volvo stating driver behaviour is a contributing factor in 90 per cent of all accidents.
As such, the new service for UK fleet managers will deliver advice to businesses on issues ranging from compliance – organisation risk management, driver licence checks and robust safety policies – improving individual driver skills and ensuring better engagement between professional drivers and managers.
Volvo claims improving safety practices for fleets could deliver savings of thousands of pounds a year on damaged vehicles and insurance policies for firms, as well as reducing accident rates on the UK's roads.
