The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has highlighted a seasonal downturn in the UK's commercial vehicle (CV) market during the last month.
According to the organisation's data for November, the number of CV registrations dropped by 15.9 per cent in comparison to the preceding month and was down by five per cent on November 2011.
In total, 22,860 units were shipped during the month, with van registrations making up the vast majority at more than 18,000.
Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive, commented: "This year has seen the van market re-adjust after bouncing back from recession … We look forward to next year where greater stability should see the van market return to slow, but steady growth."
Meanwhile, data compiled as part of the latest BCA Pulse report showed a 4.4 per cent dip in average values for the light CV sector last month. Typical resale prices now stand at £4,250 for this type of vehicle.
