Individuals caught speeding on the UK's roads are suffering from increasing costs at present in terms of higher insurance premiums than in previous years, it has been revealed.
According to figures compiled by GPS device manufacturer RoadPilot, the average cost of having three points on a licence for speeding has risen by 17 per cent over the last 12 months, with insurance costs typically £90 higher for those with points.
James Flynn OBE, chief executive officer of RoadPilot, commented: "The everyday costs of motoring continue to rise, so the last thing motorists can afford is a speeding endorsement."
Meanwhile, research carried out by the Institute for Advanced Motorists earlier this year concerning public attitudes to increased fines for driving offences revealed the majority of the public do not back further rises.
Overall, 51 per cent of respondents did not support government plans to raise fixed penalty notices from £60 to £90.
