Mini has announced a more than successful last 12 months, with the vehicle manufacturer reporting record global sales in 2012.

A total of 301,526 units were delivered last year by the firm, while Mini was also able to expand its model range to seven – its largest ever offering for buyers.

The company is now represented in more than 100 markets across the globe – another first – and saw a number of awards for its vehicles, including a triple-A rating for the Mini Clubman by German motoring publication Automobilwoche.

It also showcased the new John Cooper Works models at the recent Moscow International Automobile Salon and saw the Mini Paceman make its US debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

Meanwhile, Seat also recently released its annual figures for the last year and it too broke its own record for UK annual sales.

During 2012, the company was able to boost its UK market share to 1.9 per cent – its highest level to date – with sales totalling 38,798 vehicles.
