The Volkswagen Transporter T5 has been named the Used Van of the Year for 2011 by CAP.
A panel of judges at the used van experts carried out research relating to a number of key criteria, with the Transporter T5 coming out on top.
They looked at value retained versus cost at new, model range coverage, options, perceived reliability, image and brand perception, and dealer network professionalism and support.
Judging panel chairman John Watts, who is also head of the CAP commercial vehicle pricing team, said: "The T5 just feels right. It has a strong brand image, a very professional dealer network and extremely high retained values. It also appeals to a wide range of operators."
He added that all judges agreed the T5 was excellent in all categories and came out as a deserving winner.
Earlier this month, CAP warned that new guidelines under the Euro 5 scheme could cause headaches for anyone looking to buy a used van, as diesel particulate filters in vehicles travelling short distances regularly can require more maintenance.
