UK motorists have been urged to check the state of their tyres as the nights get darker and colder weather becomes more common across the country.
According to vehicle safety organisation TyreSafe, faulty tyres can be extremely dangerous and significantly increase the likelihood of suffering a blowout.
Drivers are therefore advised to regularly examine these important items, ensuring tread depth exceeds the minimum legal requirement of 1.6 mm and that wear and tear is minimal.
Stuart Jackson, chairman of TyreSafe, commented: "Just a few simple tyre checks can make all the difference to staying safe on our roads."
He added that despite the excitement and distractions of the upcoming festive season, motorists should remain focused on ensuring their car is safe and roadworthy at all times.
Earlier this week, tyre distributor Cooper Tires advised drivers on the benefits of fitting winter tyres, claiming these items can significantly improve grip and handling in adverse weather.
