British Car Auctions (BCA) has argued the launch of the new 63-registration number plate in September will deliver greater choice for used car buyers across the country.
Tim Naylor, editor of the BCA Used Car Market Report, stated the sector has been slightly tight of late, with a lack of availability for top quality models.
However, this will likely change in the coming weeks as more newer cars come to the market.
"Typically the September plate change brings an influx of ex-fleet cars and dealer part-exchange vehicles into the auctions, as nearly every new car sold triggers a chain of used car sales too," Mr Naylor noted.
He added there is likely to be everything from low mileage to prestige former company car models coming on to the market in the near future, with buyers able to get great deals on many purchases due to this influx of new stock.
