Average used car values rose across the UK during October, the latest BCA Pulse data has revealed.
A 2.6 per cent increase in value was witnessed, bringing typically sale prices up to £6,481. This is the highest monthly figure recorded by the organisation since its records began back in 2005.
In addition, average fleet and van values rose by 0.4 per cent to £8,376 – marking a sixth consecutive month of gains.
BCA UK operations director Simon Henstock commented: "While the headline values continue to move upwards, we have experienced some pressure in the used car market in October. Sale conversion rates faltered during the month as volumes rose compared to September."
Meanwhile, last month saw Volkswagen claim the coveted Small Family used car award at the 2012 What Car? Used Car of the Year awards for its Golf model.
In addition, the Volkswagen Passat Estate picked up the top prize in the estate car category.
