Volkswagen (VW) Passenger Cars has announced its models have proven increasingly popular over recent months, with the brand reporting a 3.7 per cent rise in sales during the first seven months of 2013.
According to the company's figures for January to the end of July this year, VW sold 3.38 million vehicles to buyers across globe, with more than 466,000 sold last month alone.
Some 980,000 passenger cars were purchased by European buyers during the seven-month period, but the standout performance for the year so far has to go to the Asia Pacific region, where 1.48 million vehicles have been sold (17 per cent more than in the same time last year).
Christian Klingler, board member for sales and marketing for the VW Group and the VW Passenger Cars brand, said the company has produced a solid performance so far in an industry that remains challenging.
"Given that the uncertain economic conditions will continue over the coming months, we are keeping a very close eye on developments in global automotive markets," he added.
