The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) is working in partnership with Bedford Borough Council to provide additional training and support to young drivers in the area.
Set to be held on April 17th, an open event will offer additional training and advice from the IAM's advanced driving instructors to 17 to 26-year-olds, helping this group to improve their confidence, awareness and safety on the roads.
IAM chief executive Simon Best said: "This partnership is a shining example of the way councils can work with voluntary organisations to provide services which would otherwise be difficult to provide during the ongoing budget pressures."
Mayor of Bedford Borough Dave Hodgson added that youngsters need to realise that passing your test is one thing, but the process of learning to be safe out on the roads does not end once they have a licence.
Elsewhere, vehicle manufacturer Seat recently held its Seat Young Driver April Driving Skills event, with the one-off showcase offering 11 to 17-year-olds in Warwick expert tuition on road safety, vehicle control, awareness and driving in difficult conditions.
