Hitachi Capital and the RAC have extended their working partnership.
Hitachi Capital Commercial Vehicle Solutions has announced the signing of a new five-year contract extension with the RAC for the provision of the organisation’s fleet vehicles.
The companies have been partners since 2011 and this latest announcement cements the increasingly strengthening relationship between the breakdown emergency services specialist and the fleet provider.
Following the successful implementation of 773 new mission critical models for the RAC in 2013, Hitachi Capital has succeeded in sufficiently impressing bosses at the organisation to ensure their partnership will now continue until at least 2019.
Described as a ‘garage on wheels’ the new patrol vehicles being supplied to the RAC feature everything patrol officers require to aid motorists who suffer a breakdown while out on the roads. This includes a full workstation, winches, trailers, light bars and bespoke communications equipment.
David Aldridge, director of business services at the RAC, said: “We have enjoyed a great partnership with Hitachi Capital and are looking forward to continuing our working relationship with them.
“Introducing such a large volume of new vehicles to our fleet presented specific challenges, but with Hitachi Capital’s help we were able to manage it extremely effectively.”
Meanwhile, divisional managing director of Hitachi Capital Jon Lawes added his company remains committed to offering the best possible models to meet the needs of the RAC and its customers, with staff extremely delighted to have secured a further contract extension with what is one of Hitachi Capital’s flagship partners.
Overall, the company currently manages a fleet of approximately 1,600 light commercial vehicles for the RAC, as well as an additional 50 heavy goods vehicles, made up predominantly of models including the VW Transporter, VW Caddy, Ford Transit and DAF Trucks.
Efficiency in the delivery of a wide range of models was cited as one of the main reasons the RAC decided to extend its partnership with the fleet provider, while the firm has also helped the RAC to deliver cost savings of up to £1.7 million since their partnership began.
