IAM RoadSmart – formerly the Institute of Advanced Motorists – has announced the launch of a new partnership with UK vehicle safety organisation TyreSafe.
Aiming to come together to highlight the dangers of poor tyre maintenance for all road users, the pair have joined forces in the hope of raising awareness of this serious risk and offering a louder voice in the call for enhanced driver standards.
Carrying out regular checks on the condition of tyres is something that all vehicle operators should do. However, in many cases, tyres are not properly maintained and this can lead to failures and accidents when out on the open road.
IAM RoadSmart chief executive officer Sarah Sillars said: "[Our] mission is to improve driving and riding skills to help reduce the number of accidents and incidents on Britain's roads.
"Educating drivers and riders on all aspects of road safety will remain an essential part of that, and access to TyreSafe's expertise and materials will be a considerable asset."
Indeed, TyreSafe chairman Stuart Jackson echoed the positivity of Ms Sillars' comments, adding that the partners are now ready to work closely over the coming months and years to drive this message home.
"Tyres are one of a vehicle's primary safety features and need regular maintenance checks to ensure they are roadworthy – we welcome IAM RoadSmart's support in spreading this message to Britain's motorists," he concluded.
