The new Vauxhall Insignia has reached a massive sales record after the current model racked up 100,000 orders across Europe.
Demand for the company car staple has been so high that sales have raced into six figures less than a year of it hitting the market.
This significant milestone comes in the same week that the Insignia was voted ‘best upper medium car’ at the inaugural Company Car Today CCT100 awards, where it also achieved number two overall in the CCT100 models to meet every fleet need.
The Insignia has racked up more than its fair share of awards so far, picking up prestigious awards such as Carbuyer’s gong for ‘best large family car’ and the best family car title at the 2017 Scottish Car of the Year Awards.
Nine in ten new Insignias ordered so far come equipped with the optional Navi 900 IntelliLink top-of-the-range infotainment system, which features an eight-inch capacitive colour touchscreen and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, bringing the world of smartphones into the car.
Bodystyles for the Insignia range from the standard ‘grand sport’ saloon and ‘sports tourer’ estate to the rugged ‘country tourer’, while the forthcoming GSi performance model – due in the spring – promises to inject some aggression to the otherwise conservative fleet favourite.
Engine wise, buyers can choose from a portfolio of turbocharged, four-cylinder, diesel and petrol engines between 1.5 and 2.0-litres, linked to six-speed manual or six and eight-speed automatic transmissions.
The most powerful diesel and petrol engines are also offered with innovative torque vectoring all-wheel drive.
Heather Stark, brand manager at The Fuelcard People, comments: “Many company car drivers will have been automatically drawn towards the Insignia because they know it’ll meet the brief. However, a lot of families recognise its strengths too, which is why it has enjoyed so much sales success in Europe.”
