Peruvian rainforest communities have thanked Britain’s fleet managers for helping to protect them from destructive logging. When fleet managers monitor exhaust emissions with CO2Count, the charge includes a donation to Cool Earth. Cesar Bustamante, an Ashaninka village elder, said, “We are so grateful. You are protecting the rainforest and making a better world for all of our grandchildren. From all of us, thank you so much for continuing to help.”
Steve Clarke heads marketing for The Fuel Card Group, providers of the CO2Count service. He said, “Although each individual Cool Earth donation is only a few pence, the combined donations mount up. It means that, month after month, anyone running a fleet can make real difference for threatened communities like Peru’s Ashaninka people, for less than the cost of a cup of tea in Britain.”
Ashaninka gratitude was relayed by Cool Earth director Matthew Owen, who said,”CO2Count users have been helping for 12 months. Their donations, so far, of £78,764 have directly protected 1,310 acres of rainforest from logging. Cesar Bustamante speaks for many indigenous communities who can now look forward to a future of security, self-sufficiency, employment, education and healthcare. Their appreciation of the help from Britain’s fleet managers is very real.”
The Fuel Card Group, via the innovative CO2Count emissions monitoring service, remains Cool Earth’s only official partner from within the automotive industry. Every monthly CO2Count Certificate issued helps Europe’s fastest growing environmental charity to protect endangered rainforests.
