The ongoing Van Excellence scheme operated by the Freight Transport Association (FTA) has been awarded a prestigious international accolade.
This year's Prince Michael International Road Safety Award for achievement and innovation in road safety has been bestowed on the scheme, which promotes the highest standard of fleet operation and maintenance.
First launched in 1987, the Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards continue to recognise the most outstanding road safety schemes around the world.
This year's award for Van Excellence was received by the FTA at a special ceremony at The Savoy in London on December 13th.
FTA head of vans Mark Cartwright commented: "We're delighted to be recognised with what is one of the most prestigious awards in our industry.
"Van Excellence has, with the commitment of many of the UK's leading van fleet operators, become an aspirational goal for fleets of all sizes and sectors."
He concluded that Van Excellence offers a "straightforward and practical approach" to ensuring safety and compliance for UK van operators.
Ben Robb, brand manager at The Fuelcard People, adds: "Van Excellence has grown in reputation and stature since its inception and today rightly stands as one of the pre-eminent initiatives to bolster fleet safety in the UK."
