Road safety charity Brake has praised a number of companies for their work to safeguard their drivers.

The organisation combined its two annual prize-giving events to create the Fleet Safety Conference and Awards and a number of safety experts from renowned firms like Network Rail were on hand to deliver speeches.

Unsurprisingly, the government is keen to reduce the number of accidents seen on the UK's roads and the work done by Brake and other similar groups will be vital in achieving this. Five people die every day on British roads, while 66 drivers are injured.

During the awards ceremony, Brake reserved special praise for Eurovia Group, which has completed a company-wide road safety initiative that encouraged workers to think about how they can change their driving behaviour for the better.

The Drive for Life campaign has had a hugely positive impact, with the organisation reporting a 44 per cent downturn in accidents in the two years since the scheme was first started.
