Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VCV) has announced record registrations for its models in 2013, highlighting a rise in sales of 19.4 per cent year-on-year.

According to the vehicle manufacturer's annual report, the firm has now achieved a landmark UK market share of 13.4 per cent in the light commercial vehicles sector, brought about through total sales for the last 12 months of 37,267 models.

The Transporter accounted for almost half (16,269) of all vehicle registrations for the brand last year, while the Caddy witnessed annual sales growth of 22.5 per cent to 13,286 models in 2013. The remainder of purchases were for the firm's Crafter model.

Alex Smith, director of VCV, commented: "Customers recognise Volkswagen as a brand that delivers great quality commercial vehicles at outstanding value for money, delivered and serviced by a fantastic Van Centre network."

He added the latest figures demonstrate the company's ongoing momentum that is being built up among UK consumers for the VCV brand.
