The Vauxhall Corsa has been named the 2012 Training Car of the Year by readers of driving instructor publication adiNEWS.

Voted for by the readers of the publication, the 1.3-litre diesel Active Trim Corsa's excellent economy, driveability and all-round level of visibility made it the top choice among driver training professionals.

"The overwhelming signal of success was just how easy the Corsa is for students to drive – individual points noted included the smooth gears and clutch, the light steering and the ease of parking," commented Paul Caddick, managing editor of adiNEWS.

At present, driving schools BSM and RED both have deals in place with the vehicle manufacturer to use the Corsa for their instructors.

Earlier this month, Vauxhall also picked up a prestigious honour at the annual What Van? Awards.

The Corsavan was named Small Van of the Year, while the Green Award went to the manufacturer for its EcoFlex range and the Combo was named Light Van of the Year 2012.
