The typical values for fleet/lease and dealer part-exchange for vehicles in the used car sector have reached record levels, new data from British Car Auctions (BCA) has revealed.

According to the latest BCA Pulse update for September, a 3.2 per cent increase to £9,780 was seen in the part-exchange values for the sector last month – the highest level since records began and the fifth time this has been the case this year.

Meanwhile, fleet and used car values rose to £9,182 – up two per cent from the previous month and 10.1 per cent higher year-on-year.

Simon Henstock, BCA operations director for the UK, commented: "Despite volumes beginning to rise towards the end of the month, demand outstripped supply comprehensively throughout September and both physical and online channels were very busy."

He added there is a growing sense of optimism regarding buyer behaviour and this is having an impact on the wholesale markets.
