The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has unveiled its shortlist for the Award for Automotive Innovation 2013.
Sponsored by The Times and GKN Driveline, the award is now in its fourth year and aims to identify technologies and designs that have the power to transform the automotive sector.
The 2013 shortlist for companies in the running to be named this year's winner includes McLaren Automotive for its new P1 model, Ford Motor Company for its 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, Indico for its warranty analytics forecasting software and YASA Motors for its YASA-400 lightweight electric motor.
Other names in the hat for the 2013 prize are Zirotec and Productiv in partnership with Tata Steel.
Mike Hawes, SMMT chief executive, commented: "Diversity is one of the UK's strengths and I am pleased to see so many different areas of the sector represented on the shortlist."
The winner will be announced at the SMMT Annual Dinner, which will take place at London's Grosvenor House on November 26th.
