The AA has confirmed that petrol and diesel prices crept up by around 1p a litre in June.
In its latest Fuel Price Report, the breakdown specialist revealed that drivers benefited from a relatively steady period, especially when compared to the wild cost fluctuations seen at filling stations across the UK in previous months.
AA president Edmund King claimed that diesel rates in particular can vary greatly depending on where people fill their tanks.
"The clear message to diesel drivers is to take advantage of the greater range of prices locally – some forecourts are more diesel-friendly than others," he remarked.
Members of the AA have previously voiced their concerns about fuel price speculators, suggesting these people sometimes cause panic in the industry, causing costs to rise.
Previous studies by the organisation showed that many drivers in Britain are using their vehicles more sparingly because of the excessive costs involved, with petrol sales falling to their lowest level for 23 years in May 2013.
