The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) has welcomed the publication of a new report into the UK's ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs) sector.
According to its findings, think-tank IPPR stated that the decision to remove the 100 per cent first year capital allowance availability for leasing and rental companies for ULEVs in the 2012 Budget has had a significant negative impact on uptake of these models in recent months.
As a result, the report urged the government to reinstate this measure as quickly as possible.
BVRLA chief executive John Lewis noted: "This independent report has recognised the vital importance of the vehicle rental and leasing industry in driving the uptake of ULEVs, something that the government has chosen to ignore."
Last month, the BVRLA also highlighted a growing need for action over UK driver record keeping and enforcement. As such, the organisation suggested a merger of the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency.
