The latest AA Populous Poll has revealed deterioration in confidence in the state of the UK's roads over the last 12 months.
Just ten per cent of respondents to the latest survey felt their local roads could be rated as either 'good' or 'excellent', with 40 per cent of AA members stating they believe their local conditions to be 'poor'.
Furthermore, 50 per cent of all those taking part in the survey said they believed the state of the roads this new year is actually worse than it was during the same period of 2012.
AA president Edmund King commented: "These … findings are deeply worrying and show that UK drivers are once again experiencing a bad pothole season after a lull last spring – perhaps with worse to come."
The news follows recent research carried out by Warranty Direct, which revealed how up to £1 million of damage is being caused to vehicles across the UK every day as a result of pothole-related accidents.
