Vehicle manufacturer Ford has announced it is set to launch a new nationwide novice driver training scheme in a bid to curb the number of serious and fatal accidents on the UK's roads.
The company is partnering with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and the AA to deliver six new regional centres to promote more confident and safe younger drivers.
It is a programme that Ford has been running in the US for more than the last decade and it is something the company feels would be of great benefit to UK motorists and society in general.
The news follows the recent publication of research from the Association of British Insurers, which named the UK the 'whiplash capital of Europe'.
Figures from the organisation showed the UK currently witnesses more than double the amount of claims per accident for this type of injury than in other European country.
