The latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have revealed a more than 20 per cent rise in automotive manufacturing in the UK last month.
According to the organisation's July data, overall output for the sector was up for the 22nd straight month, with a rise of 22.2 per cent from the same month in 2011 and by 15.1 per cent for the year to date.
Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive, commented: "The £6 billion investment committed to the UK in the last two years delivers long-term growth opportunities and the latest figures show that our products have enormous global appeal."
He added that UK car manufacturing is continuing to perform well as a result.
Meanwhile, vehicle dealerships across the country are presently gearing up for the launch of the new 62 number plate in September, with as many as 330,000 motors expected to go on sale with the new registrations.
